Arnett seeking waiver to play immediately for MSU

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) Michigan State-bound wide receiver DeAnthony Arnett is hoping to receive a waiver so he can play immediately after transferring from Tennessee.

Arnett's brother says DeAnthony is set to apply for a hardship waiver early next week. Michigan State has not commented on Arnett's situation, but his brother confirmed Saturday night he will be joining the Spartans.

Arnett, who is from Saginaw, said recently that his father has had multiple heart attacks and is on dialysis. He's leaving the Volunteers and moving closer to home after catching 24 passes for 242 yards this season as a freshman.

In 2009, Arkansas running back Broderick Green was cleared by the NCAA to play without sitting out a season after transferring from Southern California to move closer to his ailing grandmother.
