Analysis: On April 4, Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams announced there was "insufficient evidence" to charge McCoy, his friends or the off-duty officers involved in the Feb. 7 incident. McCoy played six years with the Eagles before he was traded to the Bills prior to the 2015 season. In 12 games for Buffalo, McCoy had 203 carries for 895 yards and three touchdowns.

Analysis: District Attorney Seth Williams says he can't prove who initiated the fight and says it's legal to act in self-defense or the defense of others. Defense lawyer Dennis Cogan says McCoy was only trying to break up a fight between the officers and his friends over a $350 bottle of Champagne on Feb. 7. Police have said the fight broke out over a misunderstanding about who had bought the bottle.

Investigators say the 3 a.m. fight erupted over which group had purchased a $350 bottle of champagne at the after-hours club. One officer suffered a broken nose and broken ribs while a second had a possible skull fracture.
