8/20/2014 Derrick Rose, PG Rose is sitting out the U.S. national's team exhibition game against the Dominican Republic on Wednesday night, with coach Mike Krzyzewski saying he wants to look at other guards.

Analysis: Rose has sat out the last two practices as he works his way back into shape after sitting out most of the last two seasons, though there has been no indication from the Chicago Bulls star or U.S. officials that he is hurting. Rose said after Tuesday's practice he just wanted extra rest. Rose started the Americans' exhibition game against Brazil on Saturday. The team still has 16 players on the roster and must get down to 12 before the Basketball World Cup.
8/19/2014 Dante Cunningham, PF The agent for Cunningham says his client plans to file a civil lawsuit against the woman who accused him of domestic assault. Agent Joel Bell tells The Associated Press that Cunningham wants to clear his name after authorities dismissed a felony assault charge against Cunningham on Monday. The woman accused Cunningham of choking her in April.

Analysis: After a four-month investigation, the Hennepin County prosecutor announced that the charge was dismissed because "there was not proof beyond a reasonable doubt for the charged offense." Cunningham had to put his search for a new contract on hold while the investigation was conducted. Now he says he is eager move on and sign a deal, perhaps with the Minnesota Timberwolves, the team he has played for the last two seasons.

The Memphis native played three years at the University of Tennessee where he led the Southeastern Conference in offensive rebounding his last two seasons. He led Tennessee to three NCAA tournament wins and a trip to the Sweet 16.
8/18/2014 Dante Cunningham, PF The news Cunningham was long expecting finally came down on Monday when Hennepin County authorities announced they were dropping the felony charge against him, enabling the free agent to start looking for a job next fall in earnest and start putting a difficult period behind him. Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman issued a statement on Monday saying that "based on further investigation, there is not proof beyond a reasonable doubt for the charged offense."

Analysis: Cunningham was charged in April after he was accused of choking his then-girlfriend at their suburban Minneapolis home. The Timberwolves abided by NBA rules and continued to play him in games the rest of the season, and Cunningham routinely heard boos and heckles from the crowd about the allegations. Cunningham spent the previous two seasons with the Timberwolves and carved a niche as a hard-nosed defensive forward with a solid mid-range jumper.

Before playing for FC Barcelona, Papanikolaou helped Olympiacos win Euroleague championships in 2012 and 2013.
8/8/2014 LeBron James, F James is home to stay. The NBA superstar said Friday night that he intends to play the rest of his career with Cleveland.

Analysis: When re-signed with the Cavaliers last month to a two-year, $41 million contract that included an option after one year, there was speculation he would one day test free agency again. However, James said "I don't play to go anywhere" before an event Friday night celebrating his homecoming to Northeast Ohio. His legendary career will then consist of stints with only Cleveland and Miami, if James is to be believed.
